Just My Type, the history of typography in a book

"Just My Type is a book of stories about the font": the author, the British journalist Simon Garfield, with these simple words announcing his book, published by Profile Books, which specializes in essays, in released as a Christmas gift.

not an academic essay rats, but an interesting reconstruction of how certain historical periods have been accompanied by quiet but significant typographical revolution, which in turn reflect and maybe a little influence 'on the changes in society.

Why Helvetica and Comic Sans had spread so wide? From Letraset remember with some nostalgia, font-PC, which characters have accompanied the history of the Beatles or the Obama campaign? With light tone and a special (and obvious) attention to England, Just My Type would be a good starting point to explore this aspect of design history.
