23 new fonts in the permanent collection of MoMA
When the tireless Paola Antonelli decided to acquire the "@" in the collection of MoMA, the news did not fail to go around the world. The initiative, which had indeed found the taste, knew, however, prove to be brilliant as legitimate: the fonts are purchased (often) as you would with a chair, and undoubtedly represent a strand design of ancient and noble lineage, now revamped with the advent of computer graphics.
It is hardly surprising that the operation now has a sequel, 23 font digital players recently acquired by the Department of Design and Architecture. But what are the characters chosen? They range from a classic of classics, Verdana, a misunderstood OCR_A, renowned for providing their numbers to the bar code.
The selection, made by a panel of designers and critics, has decided to recognize the elegance of the characters el'iconicità who knew disinguersi in mainstream or in the audience of connoisseurs.
