Why Isronaldenio Imprtant

Just My Type, the history of typography in a book

"Just My Type is a book of stories about the font": the author, the British journalist Simon Garfield, with these simple words announcing his book, published by Profile Books, which specializes in essays, in released as a Christmas gift.

not an academic essay rats, but an interesting reconstruction of how certain historical periods have been accompanied by quiet but significant typographical revolution, which in turn reflect and maybe a little influence 'on the changes in society.

Why Helvetica and Comic Sans had spread so wide? From Letraset remember with some nostalgia, font-PC, which characters have accompanied the history of the Beatles or the Obama campaign? With light tone and a special (and obvious) attention to England, Just My Type would be a good starting point to explore this aspect of design history.

"Comic Sans Criminal": even against the most hated by the font designer (and a help to not use it more)

Funny, fast read and well done - again - against condoning the use of Comic Sans: the hideous font used by children who think that the appearance of 'playful' makes notices more engaging or readable. few pages to scroll vertically and there are reasons that the font is not used absolutely (and the few exceptions), giving a final declaration to be signed and suggesting alternatives. ;

Similarities About Future And Forward Contract

Typeface Memory Game

The correct name is "The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over The Lazy Dog, a Typeface Memory Game" and a few words in a typical memory game where you have to find two cards that will bring the same design. In this case, however, the game, designed by brasilianops.2 arquitetura + design, is complicated because some of the cards are almost indistinguishable at first glance, except to a trained eye.

The 25 pairs of cards in fact show the letter A (upper and lower case) declined in 25 different typefaces, chosen among the most famous, from the Centaur Baskerville, Garamond, Helvetica, Rockwell, Univers, Times New Roman up to and beyond . The deck is attached to a booklet that tells the history of typography, and on each card are hints about the birth of the specific font.

An educational game for budding graphic designers, but also for those who simply want to test their ability to capture visual details. You can buy on the publisher's site or at the Dutch BIS Publishers Amazon .

Definitely a game to add to my MUST HAVE! and what do you think?
